Career insight
These days I design mainly for the web. Mostly websites and apps. So a normal day for me consists of creating logos, selecting fonts, choosing colour palettes, producing icons and visualising layouts to encompass the whole user experience of a brand. Alongside all the design work I get to liaise with other members of the team and the client to make sure everyone's happy.
Let's not forget print. I still design for print. Things like stationery, leaflets, posters, brochures and magazines. My first job after graduating from university was designing for print. That's over 15 years ago now! I love what I do.
My skillset
My main tools of the trade are Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. When the mood takes me I still like to grab a pencil and pad, or even open up Sublime Text and dabble in a bit of HTML and CSS. About me
Aside from design my life consists of cycling, swimming at the lido, renovating our home, and trips away in our campervan called Sprout with my wife, 5 year old son and two dogs. Other interests that I love, but currently rarely find the time for, are travelling, surfing, snowboarding and golf. A couple of extra facts for you about me - I'm quite tall and I can solve the rubix cube. I also like to take the odd photo or two.
